Selecting Light Fixtures
Can lights are great for general light but it’s nice to create ambiance and flattering angles with multiple light sources. Dimmers are an easy way to change the mood in a room in addition to lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces. Try to vary your light sources as much as possible for a relaxing atmosphere.
Here’s a quick guide to keep in mind when hanging fixtures
- The bottom of a fixture should be 30” from the surface of a dining table or nightstand.
- The bottom of a fixture should be 30”-36” from an island countertop.
- There should be 26”-30 inches in between multiple fixtures.
- There should be 12” from the edge of an island to the edge of the fixture.
