An August Afternoon

This month would be a lovely time to...

Reach over the neighbor’s fence for a few rogue pears (or better yet, offer to help with the harvest and promise some pear jam in return, with a warm loaf of sourdough wrapped in stripes).

With whatever is left of the bounty, leave a full bowl or platter out on the counter for the kids to find when they come inside to escape the summer heat.

Finally, you only need one or two perfect pears to make a perfect dessert. We’re tempted by Roasted Pears with Seed Crumble from our Cannelle et Vanille cookbook, or maybe Homemade Ricotta, Warm Pear and Thyme from Sunday Suppers. Serve it up in sweet latte bowls and don’t forget to lick the dish clean!
